Sunday's Best

One More Thing

I was listening to a message by T.D. Jakes
He said something that was very profound.
The closer we get to our goal, the more
difficult it will be to attain it.

That is so true, sometimes we stop just short of our goal,
because we give up.  Even when you feel like you can't
go one more step, you've got to keep pressing forward.

He said to look at it like, Can you do one more?
Just one more.  It reminds me of the saying, "Inch by
inch, anything is a cinch."

He further stated that God has an end date to every situation.
Nothing is going to last forever.  We might not see an end in
sight, but "We walk by faith, not by sight."

Even when you think you have had enough, keep on pressing.
Don't turn around, give up or go back.  Just keep doing that one more thing
until you reach your goal.  Believe it's gonna happen.

Attention, Passengers:

Attention, passengers:

Fasten your seatbelts.
There is turbulence in the air.
Mass destruction,
diseases, tragedy.
People dying everywhere.
This is on the real
God's putting us on blast.
The world is a mess.
It is all written in the book
Take a look.
The warnings are being ignored
Just like before
God has just about parted the seas
with tsunamis.
We have had earthquakes and hurricanes
of every different name.
Don't get it twisted.
In case you missed it.
God's putting his message to us on blast.
The world as we know it is fading fast.
No matter who we are
Or how great we have been
It wont matter when the world ends.
You can't pay, barter or steal
You can't even roll the dice.
There is only one door and one way into paradise.

The enemy is not fighting you over where you are, he is fighting you over where you are going.
TD Jakes

If things are heating up and you find yourself being challenged on every hand.  You are doing something right.  Buckle your seat belt and hold on.  You can close your eyes with the assurance that God knows the way.  Trust that God knows your heart and he knows what is best for you.

January 14, 2018

In spite of life's disappointments, heartaches, and challenges, we can have hope.  Nothing can keep us from our destiny in him.  He has already ordained anything that happens in our life, and he knows the finish before it begins.  How awesome is that.  The only way out is the way through, and we know we will make it through, because he said we will.  Amen to that!

In trying times like these, we can still be encouraged by the knowledge that joy always comes in the morning, but most of all, by the knowledge that "This too Shall Pass."

Sometimes we have to travel life's difficult path
Where no beauty adorns.
Branches are withered and torn
and we are plucked by thorns.
Tis a dark and lonely road
Most travelers loathe.
Even though we are blinded by debris and dust,
Travel it we must.
Knowing that at the end thereof, is sweet rest.
There is no escaping life's toils and strife.
They will always be a part of life.
God knew the path would often be coarse.
But, like the darkness that comes before the storm,
it will not last.  This too shall pass.

Matters of the Heart

Even as we look on the confusion and destruction of this day,
we can still have hope.  We can still stand strong in the knowledge
that we can endure.  So, know that you will always have what it takes to
run in this ever changing life until you finish.

We will be Free

When the doctors say
They have done all they can do
You may feel like you can’t make it through
But don’t despair
God is right there
He sits high and looks low
He knows everything there is to know
He’s been with you through the years
Answering your prayers
Drying your tears,
With all their knowledge,
Doctors can only predict
God alone says this is it.
There’s only so much doctors can do
God made you
He knows you from your head to your feet
When it comes to healing,
No one else can compete.
No one wants to hear the words,
We have done all we can do
If they are spoken to you
Or to someone you love,
Through it all,
Remember, there is a loving savior above.
If he should say this is the end
We know it is only the beginning
The start of a new chapter
In the hereafter
When God opens his arms
We will be safe from all harm
There will be no more sickness and pain
Ever again.
We will be free
We will be free
There will be no worries
No sorrows,
No earthly cares
When we get there
We will be free
We will be free.
When the doctor came
And stood by my mother’s bed,
What he said stayed in my head.
What she said stayed with me the most.
She said, "I'm in God's hands now."
I clung to the belief she would get
through it all somehow.
Her faith in God was so strong,
I knew the doctor was wrong.
He had been wrong many times before.
In light of all the evidence,
I started to become unsure.
But she placed herself in God's hands
Without doubt or fear.
In spite of all that was done,
God said come,
And she went to be by his side.
I will never forget her courage and faith.
Knowing that his decision stands,
She placed herself in his hands.
When God opens his arms,
we will be safe from harm.
There would be no sickness or pain
Ever again.
We will be free.

I wrote this after sitting with my mother in her final days.
I never shared it, because it was difficult for me to do so.
She departed this earth in 2012, and I still miss her and my
Dad, who went 5 months before her, very much.

He's Waiting to Hear from You

If you have been struggling on your own,
You don't have to struggle alone.
You may think no one cares,
But God is always there.
When your burdens seem to hard to bear,
Go to him in prayer.
He knows every trial you've been through
He's been waiting to hear from you.
He's always standing by
To hear you every cry.
You don't have to carry the burdens of your past.
God does not remember your past.
He knows your hurt and pain
He will wipe away every stain.
He will give you a new start.
Just open your heart.
In the darkest of nights,
He will be your light
That leads the way
To a brand new day.
You don't have to suffer alone.
God is always home.
He's always standing by
To hear your every cry.
He will see you through.
He's waiting to hear from you.

The Glory of His Majesty

To those who ask, how can he be?
I ask, how can you not see
The glory of his majesty?
It is no mystery to me
All around me I see
the beauty of all his hands has made.
The green grass, like a carpet, he laid.
The beauty of flowers, trees and sky,
Humming birds and butterflies,
The stars that sparkle brilliantly
The ever reaching sea,
The sun that shines down on us each day
The waves that mysteriously roll away,
All these things are evidence to me
of his power and glory.
He created all that we can see
Just by uttering the words, "Let there be"
He is the master of earth and sky
He keeps the birds soaring through air
The evidence of his beauty is everywhere.
He created mountains, hills and plains,
He waters them with the falling rains.
How can we not see the little miracles
He shows us each day?
Like a shepherd, he knows
if one sheep goes astray.
He makes the cattle on a thousand hills,
And whispers to the raging seas, "Peace be still."
To those who will ask, how can he be?
I ask, how can you not see?
His play goes unrehearsed
Throughout the universe.
He is the author of time
He has written every line.
The keys to hell and death are in his hands
Before him everyone must stand
Like a candle that flickers and dies,
Life comes to an end.
It will be too late to believe then
Unto those who dare say,
"All I am or ever will be,
I owe it all to thee,
He will say,
"Well done, thy good and faithful servant
Now, come"
If you believe,
All that he has will be yours to receive.
I am thankful for his amazing grace
That rescued me,
Because of him I can go on
When the world is closing in on me
I am thankful for his amazing grace
That saved a wretch like me
For I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see.

He Knows What's Will Be

God knows everything about you
Everything you will do
Your successes, your failures
Everything you will endure.
He knows every tear you will cry
He knows the reason why.
God has a place in this world
For every little boy and girl.
He's given you a dream only you can see
He already knows what will be
He's aware there will be road blocks
To keep you from reaching the top
He knows people will try to convince you
That you cannot do what you want to do,
But you can make your dreams come true.
You will fulfill your purpose in the end
You might not know how or when
Just know the day will come
When his will shall be done
He's already done everything he could
To work things out for your good
He want you to have a future and a hope
Far beyond your scope
He has instilled in you the passion and fire
To do those things you desire.
He's given you a dream only you can see
He already knows what will be.
God has designed a place just for you.
Has he not said and shall he not do
All that the said he would do?
You've got to believe.
Believe
That you can fulfill every purpose
And every desire he's designed for you
He can make your dreams come true
Just run fast, run free,
Run straight into your destiny.

Prayer for the Brokenhearted

Lord this is my prayer
For the brokenhearted everywhere
You are familiar with their pain
You know them by name
Let them know that they are not alone
No matter how hopeless things may appear to be
There is no situation you can not oversee.
When they are encompassed about with defeat
Let it be your face they seek
Channel their faith,
Be their guide,
Give them peace,
Comfort them and keep them safe
Be their hiding place
Incline unto us your ear.
I know while we are yet speaking
You will hear our every prayer
It is in faith I pray
Knowing that you can make a way
This is my earnest prayer
Lord bless the brokenhearted everywhere.

Amen

We can go on in the midst of any circumstance, but
Only God can give us the encouragement we need to go on.

Soldier's Prayer

Every day I pray
Bless the soldiers far away.
Bless the young man who left his first love behind
Give him peace of mind
Bless the Father who left his family alone.
Keep them safe while he is gone
Lord, bless each and every one.
Let them know we appreciate what they have done.
Walk with those who have no one
I pray for each and every one.
Be their Father and their Mother
With you as their guide, they don't need another.
Keep them close to your heart I pray
Be with them every step of the way.
God, bless the young man who is barely twenty-two.
Let him know he can make it through.
Ease his fears
Dry his falling tears.
When their spirits are low, let them feel your touch.
Lord, we love them so much.
Then, Lord we pray that the fighting will soon cease
And that there will be an outpouring of peace
Open the door to each every heart
So that the healing will start
Lord we commit them all to your care

This is our prayer
Lord, bless the soldiers while they are away.
Be with the each and every day.

Someone Whispered Your Name

Through the morning silence
I heard someone whisper your name
So, today I said a prayer for you
I asked God to touch
from the top of your head
to the soles of your feet
and make you complete.
I asked him to build you up where you are weak
And give you the peace that is yours to seek.
I asked him to bless you day and night
And make everything alright
Through the morning silence,
someone whispered your name
So, today I said a prayer for you.

Help Us to Find Our Way Through

Sweet Jesus, with hearts broken, we humbly bow to you.
Help us to find our way through.

Mend our wounded hearts again,
Heal us from within.

Guide us to your holy place
That we might seek your face.

Help us to believe
In order that we might freely receive

All that you have to give
For you our life we live.

Give us your blessings to hold
Abide within our soul.

Lend us your hand
Help us to stand.

With hearts broken, we humbly bow to you.
Help us to find our way through.

In troubled times like these
Meet us on our knees

Fill us with power from above.
Rain down your love.

Wrap us in your peace.
Let all worries cease.

Until  the dawn ushers a new day
Show us the way

When all our earthly cares are no more.
Welcome us into your everlasting door.

More  Than Ordinary
copyright P. Newman-Harris

From the very beginning,
There was nothing ordinary about him.
Born of an immaculate birth,
Sent to earth
An innocent child, sent from above
Destined to change the world with his love.
One so caring, loving, tender, kindhearted too
Came to save me and you
With one touch, he could heal,
With one word,
He could be heard
In every language and tongue
There is but one,
Only one, who could speak the world into being,
Bring sight to the unseeing,
Control the winds and the rains,
Water the hill sides and the plains.
No, he was not ordinary,
And never could be
He is the Lord of Lords,
The everlasting King of Kings,
Yet, the least is what he chose to be.

Welcome Into My Heart
Copyright by P. Newman-Harris

Today is the day
That I say
Welcome into my heart
I’m ready to make a brand new start
I open my heart to you
I’ll praise you my whole life through.

Today is the day we begin our walk together
I’ll remember this day forever.
I offer my life
For you I make this sacrifice
Today, tomorrow, forever more
Of this I am sure

Father, I pray
Have your way
Today is the day
That I say
Welcome into my heart

I’M SENDING UP A PRAYER
  Copyright by  P. Newman-Harris

Here’s to the brokenhearted everywhere.
I’m sending up a prayer.

I’m placing you in God’s care,
Taking your burdens and leaving them there.

I’m asking God to renew your spirit once again,
And heal the wounds within.

Here’s to the brokenhearted everywhere.
I’m sending up a prayer.

I’m asking God to supply your need,
For only he can bring increase from just one seed.

To the homeless man on the street,
I’m sending up a prayer.

To the prostitute with worn out feet,
I’m sending up a prayer.

To those suffering from AIDS everywhere.
I’m sending up a prayer.

To the lonely and down-trodden,
I’m sending up a prayer.

To that family with no food to eat.
I’m sending up a prayer.

To that parent too worried to sleep.
I’m sending up a prayer.

Here’s to the brokenhearted everywhere.
I’m sending up a prayer.

Only God can bring the increase,
And make all suffering cease.

To the war-torn countries everywhere,
I’m sending up a prayer.

I’m praying that the turmoil and fighting will cease,
And that soon there would be an outpouring of peace.

Here’s to the brokenhearted everywhere.
I’m sending up a prayer.
