It shouldn't matter who or where a solution comes from.
Gender, age, race, religion, or place has no significance
in the resolution of our problems.
I say our problems, because a problem for one
is a problem for all. You may think that finding the solution to crime
is not your problem, because you don't live in a high crime area.
No where is safe. One day, "over there" will become over here.
No one is exempt from the problems that we face.
We have to learn to put our differences aside
and discuss the issues earnestly and honestly, giving one another
the respect we are all due.
Thinking out loud:
In the face of tragedy, we never question who we can trust.
Like innocent children, we place our lives in the hands of
our savior, regardless of who he may be. We never question
his intent or why he was sent, his religion, his color or his station.
We take his hand and grab hold for dear life. At that point, we
not only come face to face with our own humanity, we come
face to face with our brother.
When our country was attacked,
and so many innocent lives lost,
There was a strong sense of unity
born out of our collective loss.
In tragedy, we all became one,
sharing a bond based on our own vulnerability.
That bond should exist every day of our lives.
Regarding our country:
As a nation, God has truly shed his grace upon us.
If we refuse to acknowledge what he has done,
we forego the many freedoms we take for granted.
The beauty of life is the uniqueness of spirit God
blesses us with. Once we are able to harness our gifts,
we are able to soar to unimaginable heights. What
God has for us is beyond anything we can imagine or think
in our finite minds.
In the midst of failure's deafening screams is when we
need most to hold fast our dreams.
I heard Steve Harvey say,
Remove the word try from your vocabulary.
A winning team does not play to try to win, they play to win.
Being different should never become a liability. Some of the greatest men were different.
We need to become more tolerant of the different and stop labeling people who are different as weird. Ask the man you perceive as weird, what he thinks of you. He may think you are weird. I'm just saying.
